Our Purpose

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website! Let us tell you a little about Dyer UMC!

It is our desire that this site serve two purposes..

  •     ... if you are not familiar with this body of believers, we hope that you will be able to understand our purpose, priorities and feel connected to our family before you actually come through our doors.

  •     ... if you are a part of our family, we hope that you will be able to avail yourself to the information concerning upcoming events, and see those you know and love in our photo galleries.  Also, it is our desire for you to find a ministry where your gifts can be of use - it is our purpose to train you to do the work of the ministry!

When can I come and Worship?

We currently offer two opportunities to worship - both are worship of the same God, just in different ways!

  • 8:30 AM - Traditional Worship Service

At our 8:30 service, we desire to worship Christ through a more traditional Methodist Liturgy.  Many of the things you will see here are just as they have been for the past 50 years of history here in Dyer.  Don't mistake us - traditional is not boring, nor does it mean that things don't change!  We consistently strive to find new ways to
worship that those of us who prefer a more traditional style can easily use.  Join this worshiping congregation of about 200 at 8:30 AM in our Sanctuary!

  • 10:30 AM -  Contemporary Service

We started this casual, contemporary worship experience in October of 2000.  This one hour service offers an opportunity to worship the risen Christ in Spirit and Truth with contemporary music, drama, video and the arts.  You are more than welcome to come to either service just as you are - you just may feel more comfortable here.

  •  9:45 AM - Sunday School

We offer age appropriate Sunday School classes for all ages.  There are a number of Sunday school classes that are appropriate for any stage of the spiritual journey - we have classes like Bible 101 for those who may only know how to spell the word Bible to classes that delve into the deeper social implications of being a Christian, or some of the applicable truth of Scripture.

At either service you will meet the same loving family!  At either service, you will meet the same loving Christ!  At either service - you are heartily welcome!

Please feel welcome to join us in fellowship and breakfast in our Fellowship Hall (9:30 -9:45) located just outside of our Sanctuary.

We are looking forward to worshiping with you!
